The photographs in the Featured Galleries were taken during a ten-day walk on the Dales Way footpath in England, in May of 2008. The weather was excellent throughout and the landscape was vibrantly green and inviting. There were bluebells in shaded woods, lambs in the fields, ancient stone walls and buildings everywhere, and quiet rivers for company.

Relatively flat for most of its eighty miles, the Dales Way is often said to be a good "first" for anyone considering a long-distance walk in England. I hope these galleries, as they progress day-to-day, show you a bit of what I experienced.

We love the Dales, too, and are always looking for new routes, and taking photo opportunities. We often take our dog(now 14) and our daughters 2 dogs, a giddy dalmation, and a staffy. Although not all routes are perfect for them, with moorland restrictions, and difficult stiles.
Look forward to seeing more of your travels.

The photos are wonderful; you have such a gifted eye. I'm considering doing the Dales Way next year and your work is a tantalizing preview. I did the Coast-to-Coast a few years ago, and I'd love to see you take on that subject!

Congratulations to you Mr Stormont! I have seldom (if indeed ever) seen my native Yorkshire photographed as sensitively as you have managed in this gallery. You seem to have been blessed by unusually fine weather .... or is that part of your skill too?
